Building Process

J Murdock Homes’ commitment to making your homebuilding process a pleasurable experience starts with the process. Our building process lays the groundwork to ensure that our client’s experience is enjoyable, exciting, and gratifying.

Phase 1 – Initial Meeting

We will sit down with you and get to know more about you and your lifestyle needs. Please share with us your wishes and desires for your dream home. Bring your inspiration photos and design ideas.
We want to take this time to ensure that our visions align, with what you dream house entails.

Phase 2 – Homesite

You may have already acquired a lot or may want to choose from one of our available lots. We can also assist you in locating the perfect homesite.
Once a homesite has been selected, we can then sit down with you to discuss specifications for your home.

Phase 3 – PLAN DESIGN

Whether you have your own plan, are modifying one of our existing plans, or designing your dream home from scratch, this is where your vision takes transformation.
The plan design process takes all of the ideas in your head and all of your design inspirations, on paper and puts them into a full set of construction plans. The architect/designer will work with you in stages from preliminary floor plan, to exterior elevation design, to the final product, a full construction set of plans. You will have complete design control.

Phase 4 – Selections

During the selection process you will get to make selections on interior and exterior finishes, such as flooring, countertops, plumbing/lighting fixtures, etc. Our vendors will assist you during the selection process and help make this time both fun and easy. We can accompany you to these meetings with vendors to help assist in selections if needed. You are also welcome to seek professional interior design services, or we can connect you with one, if desired.

Phase 5 – Pre-Construction

Once the architectural plans are finalized and the budget pricing is approved, we will then be ready to finalize the contract. The contract will include the specifications and the contracted price of the home.

There are several items that need to occur before construction can begin:

Phase 6 – Construction

Now that all the leg work is done, the excitement can begin. This is where we break ground. Construction will begin and we will be in constant communication with you throughout the construction process.

Phase 7 – Completion

Final inspections will be performed and all punch items completed. We will perform a final walkthrough with you to ensure that all punch items are completed and that the home meets your expectations and is ready for closing. Additionally, all of our homes come with a warranty from a leading provider of insured new home warranties.

Phase 8 – Move In

Your dream home is all yours. Get ready to make some memories.
